Bible Bee.

After hearing about the blessing this annual summer event was to several friends of ours, we ordered our Bible Bee materials not really knowing what to expect.

Twelve weeks of memorizing and studying Scripture together.  How beautiful to see the Lord at work in the hearts of the children and in us.

Charlotte and James both finished the 24 passages (over 65 verses) and did really well in the competition part.  After oral and written rounds in the morning, James scored 5th overall and earned a spot in the "on stage" competition that afternoon.  And if you can believe it, Charlotte finished 6th!  Only 7 points behind her brother...

The focus is not on the competition really, but on providing a fun incentive to memorizing and studying the Bible.  Their discipleship materials were really good, and all at age appropriate levels even though you are all studying the same book of the Bible for the summer.

Ford worked really hard, too, and memorized 40 of the verses.  The competition starts at age 7, but they honored the juniors with goodie bags and that was good enough for him!

Celebrating with milkshakes!

One of our favorite passages from the summer:
Jeremiah 9:23-24
23 Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”
